Children’s Cleaning
At Nase Family Dental we are experienced at caring for all ages, including children. We recommend that children begin regular dental cleanings and exams around age 3. If there is any dental concern, they should be seen sooner. Routine checkups and cleanings not only allow our team to protect your child from cavities and gum disease, but they also give us a chance to make sure their teeth are developing correctly. We’ll also take time during these appointments to talk with you and your child about the best ways to take care of their smile so they can form healthy habits that will serve them well into adulthood.
Dental Sealant
Children and adolescents are at a higher risk of developing cavities on the chewing surfaces of their teeth due to deep pits and grooves on certain teeth. Dental sealants are a plastic like substance that is applied to the deep grooves of the molars or back teeth. This helps create a “seal” to keep food particles and sugar from getting stuck in the teeth that could create cavities. Applying sealants only takes a few minutes, but they can provide up to a decades worth of round the clock prevention.
Fluoride
Fluoride is a mineral that provides an effective and natural way to lower your risk for cavities. It’s especially helpful for children while their adult teeth are developing, but can also be helpful in adulthood. During regular checkups, we can coat your teeth with a fluoride varnish that will quickly repair any minor damage that could turn into a cavity later, ensuring your smile stays healthy between appointments.
